Registration opens for public health conference

Registration is open for the 2015 Iowa Governor’s Conference on Public Health, which will be held April 14 and 15 at the DoubleTree Hotel in downtown Cedar Rapids. The Iowa Public Health Association (IPHA) and the Iowa Environmental Health Association (IEHA) are cosponsoring the event. The Hygienic Laboratory is one of many other sponsors.

“The conference theme this year is Public Health Is on the Move: Accreditation, Assessment and Assurance,” according to conference materials.

“Perhaps the most obvious indication of the move theme is the fact the conference is being held in eastern Iowa [this year], central Iowa next year and western Iowa in 2017 in an effort to connect with the many new and varied public health partners.

“As public and environmental health professionals, we are asked to address many changes, concerns and new issues on a daily basis. This year’s conference showcases public health efforts across the state to address these.”

Keynote speakers are Surgeon General Vice Admiral Vivek H. Murthy; preventive medicine and internal medicine physician Dr. Patrick Luedtke; clinical professor of medicine at the University of Iowa Dr. Terry Wahls; executive vice president for strategy, policy and market development for CVS Health Mary Langowski; and motivational speaker Michael Kutcher.

Additional information is available on the IPHA registration website.
