“Fed Up,” the documentary that examines the American diet and its reliance on added sugars, will be shown in an abbreviated version at 7 p.m. on April 6 in the Iowa City Public Library Meeting Room A.

Produced and narrated by Katie Couric, this film summarizes how diets containing added sugars may increase the occurrence of childhood diabetes and obesity.

A panel discussion led by local health and nutrition professionals will be held after the showing.

The screening is sponsored by the Johnson County Alliance for Healthy Living, in collaboration with the University of Iowa’s Department of Health and Human Physiology and Johnson County Public Health.
