Hochstedler joins STEM Advisory Council

Iowa Gov. Terry Branstad announced on Aug. 28 the appointment of Beth Hochstedler, director of education, training and outreach, to the STEM Advisory Council.

The council was formed in 2011 to expand educational activities and economic development in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). The members represent Iowa businesses, policymakers and educators who advise the governor on ways to improve STEM education, innovation and careers.

Hochstedler leads the educational programming for the State Hygienic Laboratory, including its involvement in the recent STEM festivals across the state. She will serve a three-year term on the council. The Hygienic Laboratory is one of the Advisory Council’s Active Learning Community Partners.
