The Association of Public Health Laboratories (APHL) announced on June 4 that Hygienic Laboratory Director Christopher Atchison was elected as secretary-treasurer of APHL’s board of directors.

“I am honored to be selected by my colleagues to serve as an officer of the Association of Public Health Laboratories,” Atchison said. “APHL provides the organization, education and program support necessary for states and communities to identify and address both infectious and environmental threats. I look forward to helping to shape this national agenda.”

As the governing body of the association, the APHL board of directors establishes the strategic direction and priority initiatives of the organization and ensures that annual goals are met.

The board of directors is comprised of the president, president-elect, secretary-treasurer, immediate past president, two public health local institutional member representatives, a public health associate institutional member representative and three elected members-at-large.
